About Greenman Bushcraft

Greenman Bushcraft was founded in 2007  in an attempt to start a slightly different school of outdoor learning.

What is bushcraft and how will your experience with us be different?

Bushcraft is learning to live in harmony with the natural environment. Bushcraft skills include recognising and gathering wild food; tracking; using hand tools; building shelter; making fire and constructing materials like string and rope from natural produce. A common misconception is that bushcraft and survival are the same, but they have important distinctions. Survival techniques are about just that, survival. However, bushcraft is a way of living at one with nature and harnessing its ways. Survival techniques fight against nature, whilst bushcraft teaches us to live with nature and become a part of it whilst adapting to the changing seasons.

Greenman believes that it's very important to teach others about our environment – it offers a different school of bushcraft, created in order to bring you a mix of these traditional skills in a unique combination with other outdoor pursuits, such as wildlife watching, photography, conservation skills, country crafts and folklore. There is no better way of learning than actually getting outside and working with nature. All of our instructors are carefully chosen to offer you a unique experience in the traditional art of bushcraft. You will be able to apply your skills anywhere in the British Isles and beyond.  Each of our courses will give you a clear understanding of how bushcraft and nature work and how we can live with them in a peaceful and united way.
