Tempted to try to make your own Scandinavian style bushcraft knife? This is a set that contains the main essential components for making a high quality bushcraft knife, including:
- the Blade; is 10.5cm (4.2 inches) long, 2.1cm (0.85 inches) wide and 3mm thick. It is Very Sharp and is made from high quality Stainless Sandvik 12C27 "surgical" steel (HRC 57). The blade extends with an "internal tang" that is 11cm (4.3 inches) long.
- a Handle Block; made from curly birch measuring approx. 12cm (4.75 inches ) x 3.2cm (1.25 inches ) x 4.9cm (2 inches).
- a Reindeer Antler piece; 0.6 inches (1.5cm) thick and minimum 2cm (0.8 inches) in diametre at the most narrow posit. This piece is suited in size to the brass bolster and is ideal to include as part of the handle closest to the bolster.
- a Sheath Leather; Half-tanned 2.5mm thick piece of brown stiffer leather for the sheath measuring 25cm (10 inches) x 12cm (4.75 inches).
- Inner sheath; made from strong plastic to give the sheath shape and to protect it from the blade.
- String; approx 1 meter (3 foot 4 inches) strong white string for stitching the sheath
- a Brass bolster; creates a strong and neat transition between handle and sheath.
- Reindeer leather strip; a thinner approx. 15.5 inches (40cm) long fully tanned strip/thread of lighter flexible reindeer leather for the belt-hanger.
