Norwegian knife manufacturing today is clearly influenced by traditional shapes and materials that were established hundreds of years ago. A well-made leather sheath and handles of wood, leather, and antler are a legacy that Norwegians want to preserve. Helle knives are designed to meet the stresses and strains of outdoor use. Thus it goes through up to 45 different manual operations in the production process. It is a point of honour among their craftsmen that every Helle knife is a synonym for quality.

The differences between a Helle knife and other knives are many. The biggest difference lies in the triple laminated stainless steel blade. The core is made of high alloy steel which gives it a lasting, razor-sharp edge. It is protected by two layers of tough stainless steel(18/8). These layers protect the blade against breakage and corrosion, while the high carbon core provides a superb cutting edge. This triple laminated stainless steel is unique to the knife blades. The steel they use is more expensive than in most other knife brands, but that is all a part of Helle`s philosophy of never compromising on quality.

The Fjellmann is one of the more compact Helle knives yet retains all the features and quality one expects from Helle. It has a substantial and beautiful curly birch handle and a 3 7/8" triple laminated stainless steel blade. It comes with a sturdy brown, embossed leather sheath.
