Saw back is more useful than I expected, feels ok to use, doesn't keep an edge particularly well but not terrible by any means. I wouldn't trust it in a 'need it' situtation as the tang is pretty short and flimsy looking.

Very nice item indeed. Strong blade and cuts well. Not like the cheap rubbis on the market these days.
