These should always be kept with you if walking in remote areas, even in warm climates, hypothermia is a killer and can strike anyone anywhere, you don't have to be in the freezing climates for this to happen, so if your camping, walking, trekking, etc., you have a responsibility to make sure you have one or two of these in your kit.
