Kris was born in Essex and has been fortunate enough to live and work with wildlife and nature for most of his life, and when not working he loves to spend every spare moment in the outdoors practising his crafts and teaching others. Kris holds a degree in conservation management and environmental issues and he regularly writes and takes photographic commissions. His work has been published in a variety of magazines and websites, including the BBC, Great British Food Magazine, Specialality Food Magazine, Biodiversity Projects, BBC Breathing Spaces and Wildlife Trust Publications and he is currently writing a book. Kris may also be heard at times on BBC radio and seen on TV.
Kris has a wealth of experience in wildlife observation, bushcraft, fishing and more recently, photography. However, his favourite subject is the hidden uses of plants and trees, especially wild foods. Kris sampled his first wild foods at the age of four, shown to him by his grandfather, and ever since Kris has been gathering wild foods for the pot. Kris believes that there are many dimensions to bushcraft, and as well as survival and shelter, Kris likes to include wildlife observation skills, practical ideas of conservation, photography, folklore, a holistic understanding of nature and its healing energy. Greenman Bushcraft is the first school to encompass all of these elements under one learning experience and now enables Kris to share his bushcraft skills with you.
Bill has worked in conservation and the environmental sector for over ten years. He has extensive knowledge of countryside management and has a particular interest in forestry, landscape conservation and the natural history of ancient woodlands. Bill's knowledge extends to the practical ways in which native trees and their timbers have been used over the centuries. He has participated in projects aimed at re-establishing native woodlands and was previously employed at a tree nursery specialising in the growing of native trees from seed. In 2003 he graduated with a degree in Rural Resource Management and has since gone on to specialise in the study of arboriculture.
