Bocote wood is a beautifully grained wood that is both rich in colour and texture. The colour is generally a yellowish brown with stark black and brown zebra-like striping along the grain. The colour darkens over time with use. The timber is naturally high in oil content, so it has a somewhat waxy feel in the hand.
Bocote Wood for Knife Handles and Craft Projects
Bocote timber is a fantastic choice of bushcraft knife handle material. It is not only visually stunning; it is also durable, long-lasting and offers good resistance to rot. The wood of Bocote is generally knot-free and it's easily worked and holds glue well too. As well as knife handles, Bocote is ideal for use in furniture making, veneer, boat building, gunstocks and small turned trinkets.
We offer our Bocote as small solid blocks, or as a pair of knife handle scales.
