PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Curly Birch wood is one of the most popular Scandinavian knife making handle materials available. The cold permafrost's mean that this slow growing tree produces a tight grain which when oiled offers a beautifully decorated wooden knife handle.

Curly Birch Knife Handle Blocks and Scales

We supply our curly birch in solid single block or a pair scales. Each block is completely natural, so the grains and textures will vary, but we sell two types. Medium grain is slightly prettier than the standard grain which has fewer patterns.

  • Size (Block): Approx. (L) 120mm x (W) 30 x (D) 45 (please allow for some variation)
  • Size (Scales): Approx. (L) 120mm x (W) 15 x (D) 50
  • Blocks Sold individually, Scales in pairs

All blocks and scales are hand cut, so please allow for variations. Thank you.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

"Really well grained polishes up extremely well."

StarStarStarStarStarReview By David

"The previous reviewer seems to not really have much of a clue what they're talking about. I ordered this birch for a knife handle and it's really good quality burr birch, not firewood! Very happy with this item and it's just as described."

StarStarStarStarStarReview By Beth Anderson

"Ridiculous price for one piece of birch. My tree felling neighbour thinks this is hilarious as he said I can have a bag of birch for 2.00 Comment by Greenman Bushcraft - Curly birch is different from the common silver birch found growing in Britain, in that the harsh Scandinavian frosts cause it to grow slowly, producing the beautiful grain."
