Tinder HOT Solar Fire Starter
Most Bushcraft enthusiasts are familiar and well versed with many methods of fire lighting, be that from natural friction fire lighting techniques, using magnifiers to focus sun beams onto tinder or firesteels, maybe even storm matches for those who like stress-free lighting. Some of you may be accustomed to using the less frequently used Fire Piston which uses the compression of air to create heat, but very few us with be acquainted with one of the most unusual fire lighting techniques - the Solar Fire Starter.
Using the Sun to Make Fire
The concept is not new, we all know that, but not many of us will own a Tinder Hot Box - a small, pocket-sized outdoor fire lighting tool that makes use of sunlight to create fires using natural tinder which can be found in woodlands and other outdoor spaces.
Inside the aircraft-grade machined aluminium screw-top Tinder Box is a signal mirror which is also used to focus the sun's rays onto a central tinder holding prong, soon producing smouldering tinder which can then be added to a larger tinder bundle to create fire. The Tinder Hot Box incorporates a watertight seal, so the inner compartment may be used to stash tinder.
