Using traditional Malaysian knife-making methods, and utilising only the finest materials, MY Parang cutting tools are simply exquisite, and handle every bit as well as they look.
Each blade is sourced from Bidor, Perak, which known globally for its super high-quality and uniquely hardened 5160 carbon tool steel. The only part of these beautiful bushcraft parangs which has not been sourced from Malaysia is the handle, which is made from hardwood sourced from sustainable sources in Croatia. The beautiful jungles of Malaysia are not chosen by MY Parang for very valid conservational reasons.
The tang within the handle is based on traditional and proven Malaysian design, using a rat-tail construction. This makes the tool well balanced, strong and reliable. There is also a brass collar at the base of the blade for added strength.
The blade has a hand-forged and hammered appearance, very much in keeping with the natural bushcraft theme. The edge comes ready sharp and also supplied with a Nylon sheath and belt loop.
MY Parang Bushcraft Tools
We recommend that after use the blade be dried and oiled with a light honing or camellia oil (we stock these). The blade will sharpen very easily with many of our whetstones and Waterstones.
