Pots & Pans

We stock a range of outdoor cookware, camping pots and Dutch ovens for cooking stews, casseroles and even bread over an open fire. Cooking around the campfire is an enjoyable pastime and excellent way of spending time with both family and friends, both old and new. Whilst sharing your campfire tales why not try this simple campfire bread recipe and cook in your new Dutch oven?

Ingredients: You will need 1.5 lb. of white flour and 1.5lb of wholemeal flour, 5 teaspoons of fine salt, 1 teaspoon of sugar and 15g of dried yeast and 1.5 pints of tepid water.

Method: Add the sugar to the water and stir well. Now add the yeast - simply sprinkle on the top of the water. After 15 minutes has passed, stir. Now mix both lots of flour with the salt and place this into a sturdy Dutch oven. Make a well in the centre of the flour and pour in the water mix. Next, sprinkle a little flour over the surface of the well. You will now need to cover the oven and leave until the mixture begins to bubble.  Mix this all up with your hands until you have an elastic dough; you may need to add more flour or water but be careful not to overdo it. Knead until smooth and then cover the dough again until it has doubled in size. Knock-back and then allow rising again. After the second rise put the lid back onto the Dutch oven and cook next to a very hot fire. When the bread sounds hollow when knocked, it's done! Enjoy!
